Error Doctor Review
Error Doctor is a popular
registry cleaner and PC optimization software, which boasts a
massive 6.5 million + downloads - making this one of the most
downloaded registry cleaners online. This shows that Error Doctor is
very popular. All those people can't be wrong, can they? In this
review, we will examine some of the pros and cons to Error Doctor.
Features:
Error Doctor includes all the basic features you need with a
registry cleaner. Firstly, it has the ability to scan your system
for errors (it also gives you a "risk" rating, which is a nice
touch). You can also choose on certain areas to be scanned -
although most users will want to keep all of these boxes checked.
It also has features which
enable you to restore previous registry backups, schedule the
program to run at specific times, and general options such as
"automatically load on Windows start-up".
One feature that seems to be
missing with Error Doctor is a "start-up manager", which would allow
you to stop certain programs from loading when you start your
computer. Turning off some of these things can make your computer
much faster, but Error Doctor doesn't have anything to do this,
whereas many other registry cleaners and PC optimization software
does. It would have been nice to see a few additional features. This
isn't a major problem, however.
Ease of
Installation: Installing Error Doctor was very simple
and straight-forward. The download is fairly small, so you won't be
kept waiting if you have a broadband connection. Once it's
downloaded, you simply open the file and it will begin to install.
Once you've accepted the license agreement, Error Doctor will
install itself in just a few moments.
Support:
The support available for Error Doctor is very basic. You are
provided with a support ticket style contact form, which you can use
to give them your details and ask a question. You are limited to
Tech Questions, Payment Questions, and Lost Password.
The support for Error Doctor
is pretty weak, to say the least. However, response times are
satisfactory if you have to use support. Obviously most users won't
need to use support - but it would be nice if there was some further
help available to those who have problems with their PC. This is
sadly lacking in Error Doctor.
Presentation:
Error Doctor has a pleasant and easy-to-use interface. There isn't
many features, so there isn't anywhere to get lost in the program.
You simply use the "scan" button and let the program do the rest.
Here's a few images of each feature that Error Doctor offers.
|
This image shows the main "scan" screen. This is where you
can scan your system registry, and select individual parts
of the system to scan - if that's something you want to do.
Most people will leave everything checked here. |
|
This image shows the "ignored keys" feature. This is where
you can ignore registry keys, so that Error Doctor knows not
to delete them. |
| This
is the "settings" tab, where you can configure the settings
of Error Doctor. There isn't much to do here - you can
choose to have it load on Windows start-up, and you can
choose for it to perform a scan automatically whenever you
load Error Doctor. |
| This
image shows the "scheduler" tab. This is where you can
choose for Error Doctor to run at set dates and times. |
In conclusion, Error Doctor
is an effective registry cleaner - and it does what it says it does.
But it is also quite basic. Some would say this is a good thing,
after all, it does what it claims, so what else do you want? But it
does lack a few useful features that many other registry cleaners
have as standard. Call to action/guarantee:
